Simon Holland, a partner and the third generation of the family running Washingpool Farm, will give a brief overview of the history of the business followed by an explanation of how Washingpool has evolved since his Grandfather bought the farm in 1971. The business now comprises several ‘enterprises’ including an award-winning farm shop, restaurant, caravan site, holiday cottages, fishing lakes – all of which run alongside the farm itself. There have been challenges along the way – themes that will resonate with many business owners include staffing, getting through planning, deciding how to grow the business and working within a family partnership. Simon is happy to talk about any aspects that other members are interested in as he has extensive knowledge of the whole business. The family also ran two greengrocers through the 1980s and 1990s in Bridport high street so are aware of the challenges and positive aspects of town centre retailing.

Christine Jewels from CIAO Italian language courses will also do a short pitch.

There will be ample time for networking over a light buffet dinner, with businesses from Bridport, West Bay, Beaminster and Lyme Regis.
